For people visiting or living
in the United States who often make calls to another country.

We believe
that the best way to save money on international calls is to find
the residential plan that has the lowest international rates and use
it. Fortunately the plans with the lowest rates for calls inside the
United States usually have the lowest rates for calls outside the
country as well. We have listed below the rate plans that we believe
have the lowest international rates. Occasionally pre-paid calling
cards are a cheaper solution for making international calls. Link
to those pre-paid calling card options
for more information. |

Our Opinion:
* This plan is the lowest we have seen for international calls.
International calls are routed through the lowest provider for the
country you are calling. It also has the lowest rate we have
seen for interstate long distance inside the U.S.-- 4.5 cents per
minute. It gets even better -- pick the 5 states you call most and
they will knock it down to 4.0 cents per minute for those states (you
can change those 5 states anytime). And finally, And you can track
all of your calls and bills on-line, and even request your own toll-free
number. The only negative thing we could find with this plan is that
the cost for in-state long distance calls is only average, but the
representative said their in-state rates would be coming down next
month. [Underlying Carrier: Various] |

Our Opinion:
Americom's Simplicity long distance is available for every state in
the continental US and includes a low 4.9-cent per minute rate for
state-to-state calls with 6-second billing increments and a minimum
call of just 18 seconds. The best part of the plan is of course no
monthly fee and no minimum usage requirements. [Underlying Carrier:

American Telecom Network offers a low state-to-state rate of just
6.9 cents per minute, billed in 6-second increments! You only pay

rates along with calling card, personal toll-free (800/888/877) numbers
and Internet service plans to help save you money! [Underlying Carrier:

PowerNetGlobal offers three great plans, all with state-to-state rates
under 5.9 cents per minute. We like the 4.9 cents/minute plan best,
get 6-second increment billing. No monthly fee for bills over $15
and just $2.50 for bills under $15. If you call more inside your state
then go for the 5.9 cents/minute plan and get great in-state rates
too. Sign-up for any of the three online in just minutes and prepare
to save big on your monthly long distance bills!

Our Opinion:
This is probably the best plan that you have seen advertised on television.
IDT is a major long distance company and their 5 cent plan is pretty
good. While AT&T and Sprint charge some hefty fees for this type of
plan, IDT only charges $3.95 a month. They also bill in 6 second increments,
something that the big boys have never heard of. Excellent international
rates too. [Underlying Carrier: IDT] |

Our Opinion:
TTI is actually a division of MCI/Worldcom and offers and incredible
rate plan. What we really like about this plan is that you have no
PICC fees for residential customers. This is the type of plan a lot
of people have been looking for. In addition, calls to Hawaii, Alaska,
and the US Virgin Islands are billed at the same low 5.9 cent/minute
rate. Plus, you can get a toll free number for your phone line at
no cost. With all the features and the reliability of MCI/Worldcom,
the TTI plan is a winner! [Underlying Carrier: MCI WorldCom]
* Please Note -- While there is no monthly minimum, they do
"true-up" your bill to $25 each month... which means if you use $20
in long distance for a month, your bill will be $25 and the extra
$5 will apply to the next month's bill. If you average less than $25
per month in long distance, you might want to look at the other plans
on this page. |

Additional Notes:
AccuLinq : $1.00 monthly fee and billing starts when you dial access number.
ATN: 95 cent surcharge per call
ECG: Must sign up a direct dial line for service to get calling card
